My goal as a doctor is to use up-to-date knowledge, extensive experience and insight to help people lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.  I am boarded certified in psychiatry, neurology and sleep medicine.  I received my bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.  I completed master’s degree in history and philosophy at the University of Cambridge in the UK. Upon graduation from medical school at Tel Aviv University, Israel, I completed neurology and psychiatry residency at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City where I also finished sleep medicine fellowship.    I moved to Seattle to deliver neuropsychiatric care at Swedish Neuroscience Institute and sleep medicine expertise with Swedish Sleep Medicine Medical Center. In addition to providing care to patients with complex conditions, I have enjoyed teaching medical professionals and public about sleep and mental illness.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY

I bring a thorough training in neuroscience, psychopharmacology and physiology to  medication management.  I take into account not only your specific metabolism, genetics, previous response to medications, current and past medical conditions but also your life experience and values.  My goal is to create a safe and maximally effective treatment with minimal number of medications, assessing often and adjusting treatment strategies according your response.

“The task of science is to stake out the limits of the knowable, and to center consciousness within them.” – Rudolf Virchow

SLEEP MEDICINE

Sleep is an  intricate physiologic state that is tightly interwoven with one’s state of mind, genetics, stage of life and physical health.  Through years of learning, research and experience I have been fine tuning my understanding of how sleep evolves through life in order to help patients understand and improve their quality of sleep and overall well-being.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

Psychotherapy is an essential and powerful component of psychological healing.  I have trained in multiple approaches – including psychoanalytic, cognitive behavioral, motivational modalities – in order to facilitate psychotherapeutic growth. My approach to therapy is to create a direct, structured, open-minded and compassionate space for  a meaningful therapeutic dialogue.

“For all bodies are in perpetual flux like rivers, and parts are passing in and out of them continually.” Gottfried Leibnitz

“A mature person is one who does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and in all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably with the circumstances of life, knowing that in this world no one is all knowing and therefore all of us need both love and charity.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

POLICIES

Insurance

I practice as an “out of network” provider which means that I do not accept health insurance plans. Patient is billed directly and a superbill is generated to facilitate claim submission for patients who choose to proceed with insurance reimbursement for the out of network behavioral health payments. You may need to contact your insurance carrier to determine coverage criteria as coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary. I am unfortunately unable to see patients whose insurance plan is Medicare and its subsidiaries at present time.
If you contact your insurance carrier, you may wish to inquire about the amount of your deductible and — once the deductible is met — what percentage of the following visit codes is reimbursed:

1. Diagnostic assessment (CPT code 90792 or 99205 with modifier 95)
2. Medication or treatment monitoring follow up visit (CPT code 99213 or 99214 with or without modifier 95)
3. Psychotherapy (CPT codes 90834 or 90836 with or without modifier 95)
